Even though it doesn’t like cold weather is coming any time soon ( at least that’s how it seems while being outdoors), I saw a “notification” on Facebook that there are only 14 Mondays left till Christmas (have you notices that 14 Mondays sounds “sooner” than let’s say 14 weeks or 3 months?). About a year and a half ago I started making multicolored (ok ok, two colored 🙂 ) beaded wrist warmers. As it often happens, this project joined the unfinished ones…
First of all, I couldn’t identify where I had stopped stringing the beads onto the yarn, so it meant I would have to redo it.. And it must be nearly a thousand beads for one wrist warmer. Well, ok – not the biggest of issues. It also felt a bit too tight on the wrist. Yet again, who of us doesn’t have that mysterious corner in the wardrobe for those “I’ll fit in it again” secrets? The biggest obstacle I have no way overcoming is TIME, that have passed… There is no way I could make another one of the same size after such a long pause. I noticed, that in order to have wrist warmers of the same size I have to be making them simultaneously, otherwise my gauge gets lost…
But one simply cannot let such a beauty go to waste!
What a luck – my DPNs needed a new and cozy home 🙂 And I also had a glass of the right size – lucky again! 🙂 I feel like an idea of making more of these cozies is gently getting into my head 😀 My knitting equipment then would have a really luxurious storage space 🙂
And some “scary” statistics for the end:
Needles – 1.25 mm (I literally had holes on my fingertips while making it… )
Yarn – very soft baby alpaca, 50 g – 375 m, held double.
Bead pattern – adapted from here.
And that is my pleasant discovery of the day!
So the day has come – lovely hat from green Drops Alpaca is now too small for my little prince… I simply adore those little elfish / dwarfy hats, so obviously was looking for something similar, when I came across this one – Garter Ear Flap Hat. Super cute, elfish, covers little ears and – FREE. One can definetely add this one to the list of perfect hats 🙂 In order to get the right yarn weight I made a mix from my stash: Filace Wayra + Filatura di Crosa Centolavaggi + Filatura di Crosa Dolce Amore + Grignasco Champagne. Knitted with 5mm DPN.
Perfect for that unclear weather we’ve been experiencing for the last few days 🙂
Finally white winter is here, so it’s high time to put something really warm on those little feet 🙂 I’ve already told you, that I am definitely not a sock knitting fan, so while my little Prince still hasn’t learned how to walk, I feel no guilt for knitting small booties on 2 needles and sewing it 🙂 Continue reading
So Christmas is over (a very mery to everyone 😉 ). One could have nearly missed it because of the absence of the snow. Thank God, Santa is capable not only of riding with sledge across the snowy hills, but also can ride a carriage across spring-like roads. Trust me, saw him myself and even managed to drop a few gifts into Santa’s bag to be delivered 🙂 Continue reading
I had some Noro Arale and Drops Baby Alpaca Silk yarn left from my Christmas knitting (yeah! “it only neaaly mid November and about half of them is done!).
Well, it’s a shame for such beautiful yarns to be lying around doing nothing. So, i decided to make Continue reading
